Engine Company No. 27
52 Waller Street
Built 1886

This simple one-story building was originally a Corporate Yard used to store Fire Department apparatus and supplies.

In 1893, it was converted to a stable for the firehorses of Engine Company 19.

The building survived the 1906 Earthquake and Fire with minor damage.

In 1916, Engine Company 19 was disbanded and replaced by motorized Engine Company No. 27 with their 1914 American LaFrance Type 21 steam engine.

In 1942, Auxiliary Engine Company 6 was assigned here.

In 1950, after Engine Companies 6 and 27 moved to new quarters on Sanchez Street, this building was sold at public auction by the City and County of San Francisco. When we photographed it in 2016, it housed a private school.
