Captain Jack's Stronghold

From this fortress, Captain Jack and his Indian forces successfully resisted capture by U.S. Army troops from December 1, 1872 to April 18, 1873.

Citation from California Office of Historic Preservation

The California commemorative marker for Captain Jack's Stronghold is located approximately eleven miles from here at the intersection of Highway 139 and County Road 120 in Modoc County.

Captain Jack's Stronghold is also National Register Listing #73000259.
