This Carnegie Library, designed by San Francisco architect William Mooser in the Classical Revival style, was built in 1905 with a grant of $15,000 to replace the 1901 the Emmanuel Church Library, a non-denominational library which welcomed both "the Atheist and the Buddhist if such there be."
