National Register of Historic Places in Humboldt County
This commodious Eastlake style house was designed and built by Fred and Walter Butterfield for Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Fouts Ricks.
The house is the only local example of the symmetrical, two-story stacked canted square bay window type. Although Eureka has a large collection of late-nineteenth century residences, none approaches the scale and Eastlake ornamentation lavished on the Ricks House.
Excerpted from the NRHP Nomination.
Although the NRHP nomination describes the house as Eastlake, I do not see any Eastlake influence and would describe the architectural style as pure Stick.
