This Roman Renaissance Revival building was designed by James Knox Taylor, Supervising Architect for the Treasury Department, and was completed in 1910. It was considered one of the finest buildings north of San Francisco.

The Old Post Office is now home to the Sonoma County Museum.

The Office of the Supervising Architect was an agency of the United States Treasury Department that designed federal government buildings from 1852 until World War II.
