San Francisco Landmarks
Allegory of California is the first fresco painted by Diego Rivera in the United States. As with The Making of a Fresco Showing the Building of a City, Rivera was assisted by Viscount John Hastings, William Musick, Clifford Wight, and Matthew Barnes.
The fresco contains classic themes and motifs found in Rivera's works: harmony between nature and machine, glorification of the past while looking toward the future, and a panorama of historical figures.
Because The City Club of San Francisco is a members-only club, access to the fresco is restricted.
