National Register of Historic Places in Curry County
Cape Blanco Lighthouse is the oldest and most westerly lighthouse on the Oregon coast.
It began operation on December 20th, 1870, to warn ships away from reefs and to provide a navigational fix.
In 1936, the original lens was replaced by a new motor-operated, revolving lens which is still in use today, and in 1980, the lighthouse was automated. The lens and building were restored between 2002 and 2003, and the lighthouse is now open for visitors.
