National Register of Historic Places in Napa County
In 1889, Edward Churchill built his 10,000 square foot home near the banks of the Napa River. The architectural style is Second Empire, suitable for the family of a prominent banker and owner of both a brewery and winery, the Golden Ribbon Beer Brewery in Napa and the Tokalon Vineyard near Rutherford.
In the early 20th century, the house was enhanced with a verandah in the then fashionable Greek Revival style.
The house remained in the Churchill family until 1956. When we photographed it in 2010, it was a Bed and Breakfast Inn.
