William Charles Hays designed this Spanish Revival reinforced concrete building which stands on the central quadrangle of the University of California at Davis. It is one of only two survivors of the first permanent buildings on campus.
As Supervising Architect for the Davis campus, Hays also designed the Gymnasium, the Library, the Dairy Industry Building, Horticulture Building, Veterinary Building, Botany Building, and Physics Building. For UC Berkeley, he designed Giannini Hall, and for UC San Francisco, he designed the Medical and Dental Clinic buildings.
Other buildings include the First Presbyterian Church in San Francisco, the First Presbyterian Church in Oakland, schools, fraternity houses, and residences.
