Julius Poppe House

In 1847, Nicholas Carriger, from Kentucky, constructed Sonoma's first redwood house and Sonoma's first well on this site. In the 1850s, the redwood house was incorporated into the present Gothic revival structure.

The Julius Poppe family came to Sonoma from Germany in the 1850s.

The property contributes to the Sonoma Plaza Historic District.
