Many I-80 rest areas contain a copy of this minimalist commemorative marker which traces the California Emigrant Trail from northeast Nevada at the Idaho border to the Sierra Nevada just north of Lake Tahoe.

From Elko in eastern Nevada to Lake Tahoe at the California border, I-80 follows the route of the California Emigrant Trail. (East of Elko, I-80 follows then Hastings Cutoff into Utah south of the Great Salt Lake. The marker traces the main route through Idaho north of the lake.)

Other markers in this rest area commemorate the Home of Early Man, the Forty Mile Desert and the Eisenhower Highway.
