The apartment building at 2241 Sacramento Street turns its side to the street and faces the house next door.

Although this configuration is uncommon in San Francisco, it can be found in older residential neighborhoods where homes were designed by prominent architects for affluent clients. Other examples are 2233 and 2255 Lyon Street, 2360 Washington Street and a residence formerly owned by Mark Zuckerberg at 3450 21st Street just outside the Liberty-Hill Historic District. (According to an article published in the New York Post on 25 July 2022, Mr. Zuckerberg purchased the property in 2012 for $10 million an sold it off-market in 2022 for $31 million.)
