Snowshoe Thomson
This marks the home of John Albert Thomson (Snowshoe Thomson), great pioneer of the Sierra and hero of the mountains, who for twenty winters carried the mail over deep snow of the mountains on his long skiis [sic], giving help to those in need along the way. Born in Norway in 1827 - died here may 15, 1876.
