Le Grand Vefour: October 12
The fundamental things apply...
The highlight of the day was our lunch at Le Grand Vefour, a two star restaurant. This was the best dining experience we've ever had. We had read about it in a New York Times review a few months earlier and decided to give it a try, especially since Al's company was paying for it (they also paid for Madama Butterfly).
We couldn't get dinner reservations on short notice but decided to settle for noontime instead, and it couldn't have been better. From the moment we walked in, we were treated as you would expect from a restaurant like this...no pretense, attention to every detail, a waiter who spoke English, and fabulous food and wine. We were there three hours but it didn't seem like it. A perfect choice and a great finish to the vacation.
On the way back to our hotel, Al picked up some more prints he had seen earlier. We also picked up a few bottles of French wine to take home. Then we packed.
