County Landmark 192
Soda Rock Winery
8025 CA-128
Jimtown
Built 1903

The name Soda Rock, as a phrase to refer to the region, evidently dates back to 1875. By 1889, Soda Rock had a post office. By the 1890s, Soda Rock was a village with a hotel, a general store, and a school. In 1893, the name changed to Jimtown when James Patrick opened a grocery.

Soda Rock became a bonded winery in 1880.

The stone winery building was almost completely destroyed by the Kincade fire on 27 October 2019. Only the façade survived. The 1904 barn, built from wood salvaged from nearby Meeks Winery, survived the fire. When we visited the property in June 2026, the barn was the Soda Valley Winery tasting room.
