Sonoma County Landmarks
Duncans Mills, a County Historic District, was a railroad depot and commercial center established in the 1880s. The western false front commercial buildings have been preserved, and several new buildings of similar design have been constructed to serve the community and visitors.

In 1976, the California Department of Parks and Recreation built an office building in the style of the historic depot to house the Russian River Sector Office of the Sonoma-Mendocino Coast District. This building, while authentic in design, does not contribute to the historic district.
