Historic Sites and Points of Interest in Siskiyou County
The Mt. Shasta Fish Hatchery is the oldest operating hatchery west of the Mississippi. Large, open ponds hold rainbow and brown trout raised to stock mountain fishing streams, rivers and lakes. The grounds are open to the public.
The Sisson Museum opened on 4 July 1983 when a building owned by the hatchery was declared surplus.
The mission of the Sisson Museum is "to illuminate the past, present, and future of the Mount Shasta Region." [Source: Mt. Shasta Sisson Museum website.]
