Battery Chester was a reinforced concrete, Endicott Period 12-inch coastal gun battery in Fort Miley consisting of three emplacements. The battery was named after Maj. James Chester, a Civil War veteran. Construction started in 1899 and was completed in 1903. All three emplacements were deactivated in 1943.
