National Register of Historic Places in San Diego County
Hotel Charlotta is a Craftsman building on the crest of a hill with views of Escondido Valley and Palomar Mountain to the north and Table Mountain in Mexico to the south. The building is an outstanding example of an early 20th century California resort hotel.
When the hotel opened on 20 January 1915, it was considered the latest in modern hotel living: twenty-five bedrooms with hot and cold water, gas and electric lights, mahogany furniture and red carpets. The downstairs contained a sun parlor, living room, dining and ballroom and kitchen.
