National Register of Historic Places in Jackson County
Mountain View Cemetery began as a small cemetery on a ten acre parcel and gradually expanded in size through the years. Land was acquired in 1904, 1921, 1922 and 1932 to comprise a total of approximately seventeen acres.
Mountain View Cemetery is the burying ground of residents who were significant in the second major period of development in Ashland between 1880 and 1910. These citizens formed important aspects of the town including the commercial enterprises, railroad related services, hotels, orchards, Lithia Park and Chautauqua.
