National Register of Historic Places in Napa County
The Eliza G. Yount House is one of the most architecturally significant late Victorian residences in Napa. Its eccentric design and lavish detailing illustrate the abandonment of classical precedent in favor of vernacular English antecedents.
The house was designed by San Francisco architect John M. Curtis who was known for his public buildings in Northern California. Most of his buildings have not survived. The foremost exception is the Placer County Courthouse in Auburn.
Eliza G. Yount was the widow of George C. Yount, one of Napa County's most successful pioneers.
