The Larkspur Downtown Historic District, comprised of 144 acres containing forty-one buildings and one structure of historical significance, has the ambience of a typical California small town between 1900 and 1930.
Downtown Larkspur is a three dimensional portrait of how people lived in small towns at the turn of the century. Its commercial store fronts with residential units above, its eclectic look resulting from the mix of styles that infilled during different architectural periods and its blend of residential styles from modest Queen Anne to California bungalow - all convey the feeling of the past.
