Steinhart Aquarium, designed by Lewis P. Hobart, built 1923
On September 29, 1923, the brand-new Steinhart Aquarium opened to the public in Golden Gate Park.

Steinhart Aquarium opened in September 1923 housed in a neoclassical building. The building was renovated and expanded in the 1960s and demolished in 2005 to be replaced by a Renzo Piano building.
