This seven-story Beaux Arts building is clad in pressed brick, granite, galvanized iron, and terra cotta. The façade and fine lobby are intact. The original apartments had wall beds.
When we photographed the building, it still housed rental apartments and was doing business as 798 Post. According to the 798 Post website, the building is "a popular spot to film commercials and TV, it also makes a cameo in Sean Penn's film Milk. Behind a wrought iron gate is a stunning lobby with a softly arched ceiling, rich stonework, and a curved marble staircase."
