San Francisco Landmarks
The First Congregational Church, designed by Reid & Reid, is an example of reinforced concrete that was used to rebuild San Francisco after the 1906 Earthquake and Fire.
The building's classical revival style, more typical of banking temples than churches, reflects the business character of its downtown neighbors.
Adapted from City Planning Commission Resolution 10202 dated January 17, 1985.
When we photographed the building in 2023, it was one of many historic San Francisco buildings owned or leased by the Academy of Art University.
