San Francisco Landmarks
Willis Polk designed the facade of the Hallidie Building as a glass curtain wall, perhaps the first American use of a construction technique that would dominate commercial architecture later in the century. According to architectural historians, the building was occupied in either 1917 or 19181.
The Hallidie Building is also National Register Listing #71000185.
