San Francisco Points of Interest
The Presidio Wall is the low stone wall along the southern boundary of the Presidio between Presidio Avenue and Arguello Boulevard.
San Francisco's finest collection of Shingle Style houses are in the 3200 and 3300 blocks of Pacific Avenue which parallel the wall. Among the architects represented are Bernard Maybeck, Willis Polk, Julia Morgan, Ernest Coxhead, Albert Farr and William Knowles.
The north side of the 3200 block is paricularly eye-catching and "San Franciscan." Here five singled houses step down the hill from the Presidio gate, each house narrower than than the one above as the Presdio Wall squeezes in toward Pacific, finally pinching out to a sharp, point at Walnut.
