Gustave Moreau: October 9

Une gnossienne by Erik Satie

Off to the Gustave Moreau Museum which is in his own house, an amazing collection of drawings, oils and watercolors. This man had an imagination!

We walked and walked and walked through deserted (Sunday) streets to the Marais district where we had a drab brunch.

Then a visit to Les Halles. This was the famous farmers market that had lasted from 1183 to the 1960's when it moved to the suburbs. Now it is a shopping area and the sight of the Pompidou Center, an ugly museum of modern art.

We were pooped. Tired of walking. So the rest of the day was spent reading and resting in the hotel room, although we did run out for dinner at a nearby restaurant.
