Sonoma County Landmarks
This property, with its century-old Zinfandel vines and ancient olive trees, is one of the oldest wineries in California. The first vines were planted here in 1863. The stone cellar that still stands on the property was built by Eli Sheppard in 1887.
The Hearst family owned the property at the beginning of the 20th century. It was subsequently owned and operated by various co-ops until to Prohibition.
In 1941, Enrico Parducci and Peter Domenici, who owned a sausage company in San Francisco bought the estate and named it Valley of the Moon. The Parducci family owned the winery from 1956 until its sale to Korbel in 1997.
