In 1905, Italian immigrants Amedeo and John Pagani bought land on the Sonoma Highway and built the Pagani Brothers Winery For decades, the site produced simple jug and bulk wines.

In 1970, John Sheela, Mike Lee Sr., and Marty Lee bought the Pagani property and renamed it Kenwood Winery. Mike Lee became a master winemaker, helping shape Sonoma Valley into one of the earliest official American Viticultural Areas (AVAs). The winery became famous for its Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon and single-vineyard Jack London Vineyard wines.

Pernod Ricard purchased the property in 2014.

Korbel & Bros. purchased the property in 2026.
