National Register of Historic Places in Placer County
Robert Montgomery Watson built this cabin with logs cut and trimmed by hand in the wooded area northeast of Tahoe City. Watson secured and weatherproofed the logs with cement chinking.
Watson was a prominent lumbermanthe and the only log cabin builder in the North Lake Tahoe area. He built the Gatekeeper's Cabin which was destroyed by fire in 1978.
The Watson Cabin is the oldest house in Tahoe City that has retained its original architecture and is well preserved. It is the only log structure in the North Lake Tahoe area.
