National Register of Historic Places in Curry County
The Sixes Hotel was a stagecoach stop on Old Sixes Road, a main thoroughfare up the Sixes River to the placer gold mines. A saw mill was also located on the property.
Freight was shipped on the Sixes River to and from the ships that moored off the coast at the mouth of the river.
Old Sixes Road provided miners and loggers access to the mines and logging camps up river and also the opportunity to connect with the stagecoach that stopped at the hotel which was a transportation hub and a place where a traveler could find a hearty meal and warm bed.
