Historic Sites and Points of Interest in Douglas County
This T-Marker, located in front of the restaurant and saloon at David Walley's Hot Springs Resort and Spa, has a plaque mounted on each side. The newer plaque, placed by Trails West in 2003, is mounted on the back of the T, facing the restaurant.
It reads:
Carson Trail - Hot Springs
"We passed around a barren portion of the mountain, where there gushed from the base... almost a thousand springs of hot water in half a mile,... The springs form a hot water lake all along their course." - William R. Rothwell, Aug 18, 1850

An older plaque, of uncertain provenance, is mounted on the same side of the T as the Pony Express commemoration:
Emigrant Trail - Carson River Route
Marker No. C.R.R. 22 - Walleys Hot Springs
Considered a natural curiosity by the emigrants and recorded in their journals.
Pony Express Route
The famed mail service - whose riders on horseback carried news in leather saddle bags - was founded in 1860. Riders for the Pony Express traveled from St. Joseph, Missouri, to Sacremento [sic], California, along a series of relay stations. One of these stations was here in Genoa, with the actual route running right through Walley's Resort, Hot Springs, and Spa.
