National Register of Historic Places in Fresno County
Tower Theatre is a representative example of late 1930s suburban theaters designed by Los Angeles architect S. Charles Lee. Lee, an acknowledged master and early proponent of Art Deco and Moderne idioms, designed more than four hundred theaters between 1922-1950. Tower Theatre is his only work In Fresno.
The distinctly-detailed and modestly-scaled building, which houses retail shops as well as a motion
picture theater, is the most dramatic example of a Streamlined Moderne
building In Fresno.
