National Register of Historic Places in Fresno County
Paul Kindler was born in Berlin, Germany, in 1876 and learned the trade of brick mason there before immigrating to the United States and subsequently becoming the leading mason in Fresno during a time of rapid growth.
Kindler is credited with the brick and terra cotta construction on many of Fresno's historic buildings. Among them are the Bank of Italy building, the Hotel Californian, the Pantages Theater, San Joaquin Light & Power, and the Fidelity Bank Building.
Kindler built this house for himself. It is a beautifully preserved example of revival architecture which was popular in Fresno during the 1920s. It exemplifies the quality construction and architectural design of its era and displays Kindler's techniques and talent.
