Black Children's Study Benefit at Ghiradelli Square
September 1970
The Ghiradelli Theatre had all the markings of a swank nightclub with
patrons milling around the bar, chatting and nibbling on caviar and
shrimp canapes. Herb Caen was there, of course, as was Alvin Duskin,
leading ladies clothier and society matrons of all shapes and sizes.
Songs from Oklahoma and an appearance by the Leggy P. Sisters made
the show that night just slightly indecent; a perfect way to spoon-feed
our brand of sexy theater to these harbingers of polite society.
