Christmas Pageant
September 1970

Calling it more of a "happening" than a show, Hibiscus in feathered wings and three-foot-high glittered star headdress, turned up on the steps of Grace Cathedral to stage a reinactment of the birth of the Christ child. With a bevy of children in mulit-colored face paint and tinseled halos, Harlow in velvet and ermine as Mrs. Claus and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Pageant moved inside the church. Within moments the Midnight Mass was surrounded by police in riot gear who snuffed out the candles, incense and a little Christmas spirit.
