Built 1911

At the beginning of the 20th Century, Rachel Wolfsohn founded the Girls Club in San Francisco to provide a gathering place where girls, who might not otherwise have the opportunity, could engage in a range of cultural activities. Papers, photographs, and an oral history from the Girls Club are at the Bancroft Library of the University of California, Berkeley.

When we photographed the building in 2004, it was home to Capp Street Center which povides community-based services to low-income families.
