National Register of Historic Places in Yolo County
The Beamer-Schell House is an outstanding example of the Italianate style and one of the finest representatives of its type remaining in the area.
Richard Henderson Beamer, son of an early settler, lived here from 1878 until 1916. Beamer was President of the Farmers and Merchants Bank and held a number of elective and appointed civic posts including Yolo County Sheriff and Mayor of Woodland.
A contemporary newspaper describe him as "Woodland's chief citizen."
