San Francisco Landmark #86
Potrero Hill Neighborhood House
953 DeHaro Street at 22nd Street
Built 1922

In 1919, the Presbyterian Church commissioned Julia Morgan to design a Neighborhood House for a puritanical Russian sect, the Molokani, which had fled Czarist oppression in the Volga and Caucasus to settle on Potrero Hill. At the Neighborhood House, the Molokani learned English, machine sewing and other skills.

The Neighborhood House continues to serve the residents of Potrero Hill.
