Landmark 84001186
Koshland House
3800 Washington Street At Maple
Presidio Heights
Built 1904

This residence, built for Marcus Koshland who made his fortune in wool, was modeled after Madame de Pompadour's Versailles chateau Le Petit Trianon. The building was completed in 1904 and inaugurated with a Marie Antoinette costume ball. Two years later, the facade was damaged in the 1906 earthquake, but it was quickly restored.

As I write this in May 2005, the house is on the market with an asking price just shy of 30 million dollars. It is being marketed as grand, spectacular, majestic, exquisite, remarkable, impeccable, warm, delightful, and - need we say - fabulous!

If you are interested in this property as a home for your family, your entourage or your consulate, you should contact Christie's.
