National Register of Historic Places in Jackson County
This building, in the California Mission Revival style, was probably designed by Oregon architect Frank Chamberlain Clark.
It was dedicated as the First Baptist Church of Ashland in September, 1911, and remained such until 1970 when the congregation built a new church and sold the old one.
The building began a decade of serious decay and vandalism until it was sold in 1980 after being listed on the National Register. The new owners rehabilitated what had become known as the old pink church, a reference to an unfortunate paint job by the prior owner, and opened it to the public as the Oregon Cabaret Theater, still in residence when our photograph was taken in 2006.
