The house was built in 1882 as a wedding present for Daisy Kelly and Alexander MacCallum. (Daisy preferred to spell her last name "Kelley." She thought that Kelly was too Irish.) Daisy's father, William, paid for the house. Her husband was her father's bookeeper.
