National Register of Historic Places in Alameda County

Bowles Hall, University of California at Berkeley 14 August 2005
National Register #89000195
Bowles Hall
Stadium Rim Way and Gayley Road
Berkeley
Built 1928

George William Kelham designed Bowles Hall, a dormitory for men, in the Collegiate Gothic architectural style which flourished on college campuses during this period. When dedicated in 1929, Bowles Hall was the first residence hall on the Berkeley campus.

It was Bowlesmen, themselves, who worked to add Bowles to the National Register in order to improve its odds of survival.

We keep our fingers crossed. It sits astride the Hayward Fault.
