A Clamper plaque on the front of the Belden Town Lodge reads:

Belden

Named after Susan Lee Belden, Maidu Indian, widow of Charles Belden, miner and settler. In the early 1900's already a thriving township with a stop on the Western Pacific R.R., Belden became a popular resort for Bay Area fishermen. Today Belden is a pleasant pause for travelers enjoying the scenic Feather River Highway.
