The SHPO website contains an announcement
that is all to familiar everywhere in our country today:
Nevada has over 260 roadside markers that bring visitors' attention to Nevada's heritage. In 1967, the Nevada State Legislature initiated the marker
program....but due to budget cuts in 2009 the program has become dormant: new markers
will not be installed and markers threatened by vandals and the environment are not likely to be repaired.
