NCO Railway Depot
East and 3rd Streets
Alturas
Built 1908
In 1908 when Alturas was the narrow-gauge, northern terminus of the
Nevada-California-Oregon Railway, the company built this stone, Queen Anne passenger
depot. In 1915, the depot was disassembled, and the numbered stones were reassembled
at the current site.
Regularly scheduled trains no longer stop in Alturas, and the former depot houses
the Alturas Garden Club.
